New name, same mission
Today marks a major milestone in the evolution of this journalistic project. With the new name and brand, we hope to increase our reach to meet people statewide.
When I first launched this Substack, I wanted to write about the many political issues in South Texas that often don’t receive much attention from traditional media organizations, while also framing them through a progressive lens.
Throughout these past couple of months I have seen the incredible power that words have, not just online, but in the wider political space as well. In an effort to allow our content to reach the widest audience possible, we are rebranding to the Lone Star Pioneer.
This new name was chosen both because we want to broaden our coverage, but also because it perfectly matches our mission. Pioneer is the anchor of our new name and it describes the type of work we are doing: pioneering a new era of political journalism for places like South Texas that often go ignored by state leaders.
I want to personally thank all of the wonderful readers who have subscribed to follow along in this journey and we hope you’ll stick around as we try to seriously expand into wider statewide news reporting.
